SUMMARY:AIA Southeast COTE Collaborative (WNC\, SC\, NC\, GA\, TN) Riverbank Recovery: Environmental Stewardship and Community Resilience After Disaster
DESCRIPTION:Headed to Aspire? Save the Date for the AIA Southeast COTE Collaborative (WNC\, SC\, NC\, GA\, TN) Riverbank Recovery: Environmental Stewardship and Community Resilience After Disaster \nDate: Sunday September 13\, 2026\, 1-3:00 PM \nLocation: Buncombe County (Final Location TBD by MountainTrue One Week Prior) \n2 LU|HSW \nCost:$15 \nThis interactive riverbank cleanup will take place along waterways in Buncombe County near Asheville\, North Carolina that were heavily impacted by Hurricane Helene in Fall 2024 and continue to require restoration and environmental stewardship. Participants will work alongside the regional nonprofit MountainTrue to remove debris and pollutants from riparian zones while learning how watershed health\, ecological restoration\, and site stewardship contribute to community resilience. We host events dedicated to products\, tools\, and practices that enable a radical reduction of carbon emissions from the construction of our built environment. \nNRDC: Rebuilding Safer – A Guide to State and Local Adaptation (PDF): \nCheck out the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) new report designed to support state and local leaders strengthen resilience in the face of escalating climate-driven impacts.
