Please view the current details for events on their individual pages. \nWednesday April 29 \nResilience By Design Conference\n9 AM-3:30 PM\nClemson Architecture Center \nThe AIA SC Resilience Committee and the Committee on the Environment (COTE SC) are partnering to host the 2026 Resilience By Design Conference!  We have an impressive\, nation-wide roster of resilience by design experts (sessions begin at 9:30 AM) and we know this will be an excellent kick-off to this AIA SC event series. \nCharleston Firm Hop\n4:30-6:30 PM\nLocations: \nBello Garris\nYoung + Wales\nGBA\nThomas & Denzinger\nGlenn Keyes/Reggie Gibson \nAll-Conference Welcome Reception\n6-8 PM\nAmerican College of the Building Arts 649 Meeting St\, Charleston\, SC 29403 \nPut on your party hat for this reception: Resilience By Design\, Annual Meeting\, and Design Awards attendees\, friends\, colleagues\, sponsors\, and guests will meet & greet along with Building Arts tours\, appetizers\, and adult beverages. \nThursday April 30 \nAIA SC Annual Meeting: HSW Workshops\, Keynote Speaker\, New Architects Luncheon\, 2026 Membership Meeting\n9 AM – 4 PM\nCannon Green \nAIA SC Design Awards\n6-9 PM\nCannon Green\nThe AIA SC Design & Chapter Awards kick off at 6 pm at Cannon Green with a President’s welcome reception\, followed by the awards presentations and celebration. \nFriday May 1 \nCharleston Site Tours \nMORNING: 10 AM-12:30 PM\nAFTERNOON: 1:30-6:30 PM\nEnjoy thoughtfully curated selections of in-process and recently-built Charleston architecture. \nThe morning walking tour is located in downtown Charleston. \nThe afternoon agenda includes additional downtown locations\, plus a group shuttle to Sullivan’s Island for a tour of a recent build and a late afternoon reception. \nSaturday May 2 \nSafety Assessment Training (SAP)\n9 AM- 3:30 PM\nClemson Architecture Center\nThe Safety Assessment Program (SAP is nationally recognized as a standard for disaster-affected building evaluation.  SAP instructor and structural engineer Patrick Murren (along with colleague Brett Eisenhauer) will teach participants to conduct rapid evaluations of structures affected by earthquakes\, wind\, water\, and more.  Architects\, engineers\, and certified building inspectors who complete the workshop and who hold a SAP-approved license will be registered as a certified SAP Evaluator with CalOES.

DESCRIPTION:April 17 – Hard Hat Tour – D10 Middle School West Ashley \nDATE: Wednesday\, April 15\nTIME: 5 pm\nLOCATION: 1776 William Kennerty Dr\, Charleston\, SC \nJoin us for a hard hat tour of this new academic facility! \nThis project includes a new two-story\, 103\,000 square foot building addition at the existing C.E. Williams Middle School North Campus — designed by Moseley Architects to provide modern learning environments\, collaborative spaces\, and resources to inspire student success for generations to come. The project will serve 600 students (900 core) and includes a separate 29\,000 SF wing for Pattison’s Academy for Comprehensive Education. \nThe exterior & interior partitions are nearing completion & they are starting on 2nd floor framing in the near future\, so this tour will have good views of the bones of this building. \nWe will meet at the site entrance at 5:00pm; please arrive early to park at the nearby Middle School and walk over. Closed-toe shoes\, hard hats\, and safety vests are required for all attendees; please bring your own as limited PPE will be available on site. \nThis event is open to AIA Members only and HSW Credit will be logged for all attendees. \nHappy Hour : After the hard hat tour\, we will meet at Frothy Beard Brewing (5 minute drive) for a happy hour around 6:00.
