Historic Taylor House
Task
Unveiled and reopened, the Taylor House has been returned to its original grandeur. Through a phased rehabilitation, incompatible additions were removed, side porches reimagined, terra cotta tiles returned to the roof and the once again light-filled grand stair restored. HVAC, fire suppression, lighting, new restrooms, and a new elevator were carefully integrated respecting the historic character. The National Register home is now a distinguished part of the University of South Carolina’s School of Law campus and home to admissions, conferences, and events. Inspired by historic photographs and family history, finish selection and reinstallation of original furnishings blends old and new.
