Book talk: The Sustainable Urban Design Handbook
Professor Nico Larco and Mayor Kaarin Knudson, AIA, will present the Sustainable Urban Design Framework, a new, comprehensive approach to sustainable urban design built from current research and best practices from across the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, planning, development, ecology, and environmental engineering. The framework organizes 50+ specific urban design elements in relation to five sustainability-focused outcomes and four scales of intervention.
After they present the framework and tool, Timothy Beatley, who is the Teresa Heinz Professor of Sustainable Communities, in the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning, School of Architecture at the University of Virginia, will engage the authors around key questions relevant to current practice.
